Snow Storm Inspiration: Lazy Sunday

January 31, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Sometimes there is nothing better than just lounging around in your house in your PJs all day long. We spend all week working hard, and every now and then we need to give ourselves a little mental health day. So if you need some TLC and the snow is pilling up outside, spend this lazy Sunday bundled up in some cute and comfy sleepwear.

Lace: Nordstrom // Satin: H&M // Onesie: Abercrombie // Shorts: Aerie // Striped set: Jcrew // Sleep shirt: PINK Victoria’s Secret

Lately, stores have been stepping up their A-game in the sleepwear department. PJs are no longer just for sleeping, they’re a trendy statement. So if you’re feeling a bit lazy and you don’t plan on going anywhere, you can still spend the day in some stylish PJs. While most of my sleepwear collection consists of oversized T-shirts and slouchy sweats, there are those few pieces in my sleepwear collection I just can’t get enough of.

My personal fav, the sleep shirt. An effortless light-weight piece that makes you feel feminine and sexy the second you throw it on. The options are endless in the pajama department. You can go silky, lacy, or even have some funky prints. No matter your sleep style, you are sure to start building up your collection once you realize how fun it is to shop for pajamas.

What is your favorite piece in your sleepwear collection?

Cognac may be one of my favorite colors in fashion. Why, you ask? Because it’s one beautiful and buttery neutral that complements nearly everything. It’s great with black, brown, blue, and pretty much any other color you can think of. Wear it on over-the-knee boots, driving loafers, ankle booties, riding boots, or snag a handbag in this color crush. It’s one hue that never goes out of season. Here are a few fashion finds in the color cognac.

Five Textures of Fashion

January 29, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Corduroy, flannel, quilting, fur, knits, denim – when it comes to textures in fashion, there’s quite a selection. Mix them up, layer them, and say what’s up to your new style.

It can seem intimidating, but the more you practice playing with fashion and not sticking with the outfits you’ve already planned out, the more comfortable it will feel trying different combinations. Your wardrobe will also get far more mileage. Here are five different fabrics for the season, all of which work well together or separately. Click the image for product details.

{Corduroy}

Warm, soft, and comfy are the three words that come to mind when you slip these on. They’re thicker than a traditional legging and layer well with a chunky knit.

{Knits}

Who doesn’t love a good sweater or knit scarf? It’s a must for chilly days. Pair with the cord leggings from above and you’ve got a comfy and stylish outfit that others will envy and you’ll never want to take off. Trust me on this.

Hat Attack at ShopStyle

{Quilting}

This sew-sweet style is often associated with Chanel. It’s classy and can also be sassy, or mad cool.

{Flannel}

Warm, casual, a little grungy, and quite practical —  a flannel can be a light jacket or a blouse.

{Fur}

This faux variety adds a playful element to outerwear. Throw on some dark shades and get ready to conquer the world. You’re dressed for it.

Sparkle in Style for New Year’s Eve

January 29, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Hey SIMONistas!

When you welcome the new year this season, you're going to want to look your best. The way you begin 2015 should be as stylish as possible! Depending on which kind of party you'll be attending, there are different looks you should strive for. But, one thing should be constant – pump up the glam! New Year's Eve is one of the very few times when wearing excessive sparkles and sequins is acceptable and actually encouraged. Take advantage of the occasion and show just how stunning your style is. Steal the night in these NYE looks and all you'll need to complete your outfit is a shiny smile.

Celebratory Chic

For those who are celebrating the new year in the company of friends and family at a pumped up party, you'll want to make sure you find the perfect party dress or sassy skirt. The skirt or dress will be the focal point of your outfit. If it's plain, bring on the bling in the form of a chunky necklace and cute coat. You want to look extremely festive, fun and fashionable all at the same time. Oh, and patterned tights are never a bad idea.

Celebratory Chic

Dress: Michael Stars Cap Sleeve Sequin Dress (Bloomingdale's)
Earrings: Crystal Staement Earrings (Bebe)
Clutch: MILLY Clutch Aztec Gold Frame (Bloomingdale's)
Shoes: Michael Kors 'Agnes' Pump (Nordstrom)

Evening Elegant

If you and your hunny are planning a romantic night at a trendy restaurant or amongst a classy crowd, dressing accordingly is perfect. For this type of outfit, you'll want to focus on tasteful glam with just the right amount of sparkle. With a pretty shape and just enough glitz, you'll be sultry and sophisticated as you sip your champagne and pucker up for that midnight kiss as the fireworks flare.

Evening Elegant

Dress: Madison Ave. Quinlan Dress (Kate Spade)
Clutch: Judith Leiber Couture New Sphere Crystal Minaudiere (Neiman Marcus)
Shoes: Daydel Mirror Pump (Jimmy Choo)

Styling a posh party outfit for NYE will be a cinch when you stop by the shops at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza where lots of festive must-haves can be found. Shine bright when you ring in the new year in style, and 2015 could be your best year yet!

How To Wear: Neutral Tones

January 28, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

A neutral ensemble has long been a favorite amongst fashion sophisticates. Winter whites, beiges, and cream hues compliment each other and simultaneously put the spotlight on the wearer. The luxurious result is an understated, yet powerful statement look.

Putting together a chic neutral look can be incredibly easy to do. The trick is to include a variety of textures – like faux fur, mohair, or cable knits – to keep the outfit from being boring. Check out some designer inspired neutral looks below:

The New Denim

January 27, 2015

Bag | Skirt | Dress | Glasses

Synonymous with American fashion, denim is a recession-proof style staple that, until now, has in large part consisted of blue jeans. Today, we are seeing denim in everything from drawstring backpacks to boho dresses, and even in sunglasses. Fashion "It Girl" Alexa Chung's new collection for Adriano Goldschmied spotlights quite a bit of the classic fabric, and spring runway shows were full of pieces from designers like Gucci, Burberry, and Stella McCartney. With its comfortable feel and effortless vibe, it is small wonder why denim is this spring's hottest trend.

Marsala – 2015’s Hottest Hue

January 26, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Pantone has recently released their pick for this years color of the year – marsala. While this color has received some heat since it has been announced, there are many ways to fall in love with this years color. Celebrities like Beyonce and Kylie Jenner have been showing some love to marsala, and it has slowly been gaining a following. Fan or not, you can always just pour a tall glass of red wine and be right on trend!

Sweatshirt: Victoria's Secret // Lipstick: Laura Mercier Dulce de Leche // Skirt: JCrew // Mug: Crate & Barrel // Scarf: Topshop // Candle: Voluspa

A bold, reddish hue, marsala brings warmth to any room, outfit, or make-up look. Not to mention it's a perfect hue to combat those cold winter days. I think this color is very subtly sexy and is such a versatile color. One of the reasons I am getting on marsala's side is because you can easily add it to any aspect of your life. One way to start shopping this color is beauty. It is the perfect color this time of year for lip sticks, nail polishes, and eye shadows. Sephora has teamed up with Pantone to bring you tons of ways to wear marsala, so check out their list of goodies before you head out to shop. You can also add it to your outfit either by going all out with something like a skirt, or a little more subtly with some accessories. Not ready to start adding marsala to your everyday look? Start warming up to it by throwing some marsala pillows around the house or getting a few coffee mugs. It looks great paired with neutral tones, purples, and even greens, so it will look great in any home.

How do you add this years color into your life?

Cold Weather Style: Sweater Dresses

January 23, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Top row: H&M, Athleta // Bottom row: Madewell, BCBG

Just because the temperatures may have dropped and we are all bundling up a bit more doesn't mean we still can't wear a dress. If you are planning to come out of your Netflix coma this weekend, a sweater dress is a top choice, no matter what you are going for. Super cozy while still being chic, sweater dresses are perfect because you can dress them up or down.

Planning a trip to the mall? Throw a sweater dress over some leggings and boots and you can shop all day long. Got a hot date? Pair a sweater dress with some knee-high boots and thigh-high socks and you are sure to stun. Need a night out? A sweater dress with some fun tights and heels will prepare you for whatever the night may bring.

Spread the Love

January 23, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

It always seems fly by, but the holiday season is a time to push aside the hustle and bustle from our daily lives and take in every scent and twinkle. With this season you can expect gift giving, cooking, and spreading love while being with the ones you love. With the holidays upon us, there is no better feeling than picking out the perfect gift for the special people in your life, but this time of year can also be quite stressful. Here are some reminders that some of us may forget during this busy time of year in order to de-stress and prioritize.

  1. Start early. There is nothing worse than getting down to the wire and having to do last minute shopping in the overcrowded and lower stocked malls, so start earlier in the month so you can slowly put all of your ducks in a row before the holidays sneak up on you.
  2. Take some TLC time for yourself. We are constantly surrounded by people during this month, so it is a must to take some time aside to spoil yourself and put your mind at ease.
  3. Focus on what's important. Sometimes we can get caught up in all the gifts and get-togethers, but taking a little time to remember why we are doing all of this planning in the first place really helps put things in perspective.
  4. Give back. There is no better time to get in the spirit of giving than around the holidays. So start spreading the joy to yourself and others by giving back, volunteering, or preforming small acts of kindness to make a big impact on somebody else's life. Click here to see how Simon has begun to #spreadlove this holiday season.

Update Your Look Instantly With Accessories

January 22, 2015

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

In order to stay on trend (and sane, for that matter) with the ever-changing fashion trends, it is critical to understand where to splurge and where to save, lest you empty your bank account each and every season with every new item you can get your hands on. Even if money is no object to you, being selective on what you buy is the key differentiator between the truly stylish set and the fashion victim. Hoarding stuff should never be the goal. Buying with discerning taste, on the other hand, should be.

The good news for those of us with a finite amount of funds is quite possibly the easiest way to continuously update your look and stand out from the crowds is with eye-catching accessories. Be it a colorful bag, fun sunglasses, luxurious fur, a trendy but understated sneaker, or a statement ring, choose what truly speaks to your personal style, and incorporate it into your favorite go-to looks.
