Are you excited about the upcoming Fall fashion season? Well I am!!! Why so you might ask? Well, let’s just say that Fall 2013 promises to be a season of style that you won’t soon forget. Luscious deep tones will dominate the fashion scene this coming season and designers are lining retail shelves with their latest offerings. But, one of the hautest trends for Fall that’s tickled my fashion fancy is gorgeous grey. Now I know grey isn’t the most popular of fashionable color choices, and when we think of this neutral hue what immediately comes to mind is humdrum and boring. But alas, there is a bright side. With grey as your canvas you’ll have an open invitation to sass up your style with a pop-of-color. And with a variety of shades in its spectrum versatile grey can effortlessly play with other lush colors in your ensemble like deep plum, gorgeous greens, and lavish blues (which are also on trend for Fall). Completing your look with a fabulous pop-of-color can make all the difference by transforming your look from drab to drool in an instance. Here are a few gorgeous grey pieces that will keep you fab for Fall without looking like Molly the Mortician. 😀

Style Tip: Don’t be afraid to try a little “grey on grey” action with this hue. Silvers, blacks, charcoals, and even whites are all varying tones of grey so mix and mingle these colors to create exciting new style combinations.

Hey Fashionistas,

This season has seen its share of fabulous fashion trends. And while some of the summer’s hottest styles were re-do’s from seasons past like peplum and color-blocking, others seemed to be a breath of fresh air like all-over floral prints, lovely lace, bold stripes, and mix-matched prints. Summer fashion has definitely been a lesson in Fashion Creativity 101. I’ve learned a lot during Summer Style School and my wardrobe is slowly but surely making its way to the Haute Honor Roll for Fall. One of my favorite fashion subjects for the coming season is Geometric Patterns. Unlike solids, geo-patterns tend to break up body lines and can also mask or cover up your trouble spots effortlessly. And although this trend is more for the fashionably fearless I believe anyone can incorporate geometric pieces into their existing style. So if you’re afraid to step outside of your style “box” to “tri-angle” this bold look, fear not. Geometric-inspired designs come in a variety of styles to suite any fashionistas’ fancy and are definitely on trend for the coming season. So whether you prefer a more tribal-flair to your style or even a bit of mod-chic pizzazz, geo-inspired pieces for Fall are just the thing to keep you at the head of the class. Shop, Eat and Drink at Original Penguin for Bert’s Big Adventure!

Original Penguin invites Atlantans to shop till you drop for a great cause! The lifestyle clothing retailer for men and women has teamed up with Bert’s Big Adventure, a non-profit organization that provides 5 days of fun at Walt Disney World for children with chronic and/or terminal illness and their families, to host a night of shopping, food, and fun in their Atlanta store.

The event will take place on Thursday, July 18th from 6-9pm at the Original Penguin store in Lenox Square. Attendees will enjoy special discounts throughout the event, photobooth pictures to capture all of the fun, cocktails from Vixen Vodka, light bites from Tin Lizzy’s Cantina and a chance to putt for charity. There will also be raffle prizes that include a $200 Original Penguin Gift Card, tickets to the Bert Show Experience (an in-studio visit to see the Bert show), a $150 Balance Salon and Boutique gift card and more. Insta-Glam reSnap: #RX4style in NOLA… Just what the Dr. ordered!

In my quest to be everywhere that’s haute and happening (and I do mean EVERYWHERE), I recently returned from a cross-country trek to Nawlins (that’s New Orleans for my southern lingo challenged divas) for the #RX4style soiree presented by Dr. Miracles, Curl Care by Dr. Miracles and Naturally Happy Hair. Held at the fabulous Bellocq Lounge inside the ultra chic Hotel Modern in downtown New Orleans, this product showcase and social soiree surrounded the Essence Music Festival and featured a host of surprises throughout the day.

As many of you may already know I’m an 80’s baby, and not because I was born then (although I am more than willing to shave a couple years off my age to have been). 😉 You remember the 80’s right? Let’s see; there was the fun dance party music and those coming-of-age movies celebrating teen-angst; and who can forget all that fabulously colorful and chic fashion. Bright bold and brash are words that best describe this era of style that was the literal sonic boom in pop culture. The 80’s was an era that defined fashion for me, and like most impressionable teens during this era, rockin the latest fashion trends was a rite of passage. 80’s fashion was all about fun and fearlessness and there was one designer that captured this spirit and wrapped it in a tutu, and her name is Betsey Johnson. Without question THE most fun in fashion, Betsey Johnson has been shaking up the fashion world for over half a century. Best known for her celebration of the exuberant, the embellished and the over-the-top, Betsey J has been my style icon ever since my fashion’s first kiss (blush moment).

I was thrust into the fabulously fun world of Betsey Johnson in the 80’s, and this inspirational and iconic brand has been a staple in my fashion arsenal ever since… Just peep a few of my fave BJ gems (left).

WARNING: The following contains an excessive amount of 80’s references such as totally, awesome, and stoked just to name a few…And that’s just in the first paragraph! Enjoy!

Ok…as you probably guessed, I’m “like” “soooo” infatuated with Betsey J! So, when I was invited to share my love for Betsey for a “totally awesome” chance to get an up-close and personal peek at her latest looks during the WWDMagic showcase in Las Vegas (Bonus!), I was so “stoked to the max” I literally started “Dancing on the Ceiling.” Hey, I tried to warn you. 😛

Gru and his Minions are back! This summer get ready for more Minion madness when Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, and the beloved Minions return, along with a host outrageously funny new characters. DESPICABLE ME 2 hits theaters on July 3rd.

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster, Despicable Me, delighted audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history. In Summer 2013, get ready for more Minion madness in Despicable Me 2. Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed film-making team create an all-new comedy animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions…and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.

Last week my family and I had a blast at the pre- screening in Atlanta. Despicable Fans from all over brought their mini-Minions out for sneak peek of the movie. We had an absolute “despicably fun time” and we even captured some of the fun courtesy of OMG Booth!

I must say that the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack is amazing! Check out this live performance by Pharrell Williams of the song “Happy” from the movie’s soundtrack on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Lenox Square Hosts 54th Annual Legendary 4th of July Celebration

Hailed as the largest fireworks display in the Southeast, *Lenox Square’s Legendary 4th celebration promises to be even more spectacular for 2013. In its 54th year of dazzling Atlantans on the July 4th, Lenox Square’s annual patriotic party palooza features a host of entertainment and activities for the entire family. Here’s a lineup of the day’s highlights:

3pm – Parents bring your kids to Lenox Square’s Kids Zone where they can experience a fun day filled with a variety of fun activities like inflatables, bungee jumps and more.

6pm – Tin Lizzy’s VIP Area opens for guests ages 21 and up. A $10 cover gains you access and includes one complimentary beer. While inside, enjoy $4 drafts, $3 tacos and a relaxing lounge area with tables and chairs. Later in the evening, ‘Atlanta’s Next Legend’ winner Wesley Cook will be available for a meet & greet in the VIP Area.

Beginning at 6pm, join me Nikka Shae as I emcee a diverse lineup of live entertainment on the main stage including the following:

6pm – Jimmy Buffett tribute band Sons of Sailors

Levi’s® 501 Jeans celebrates in style at Macy’s Lenox Square [Insta-Glam Re-Snap]

Recently Levi’s® Jeans kicked off the summer in style as they hosted a Step Into Denim fashion showcase at Macy’s in Lenox Square. In conjunction with Macy’s American Icons campaign the event celebrated Levi’s® 140^th Anniversary of the brands’ iconic 501 Denim Jeans. I had the pleasure of hosting this fabulous event as well as a fashion showcase where shoppers were treated to several Levi’s® inspired looks along with tips on how to rock their Levi’s® denim with the latest fashion trends.

During the event shoppers enjoyed beats by a live DJ, a step performance by “Break the Stage,” as well as several free gifts and a few added perks with their Levi’s® denim purchases. The fashion showcase featured several trendy looks inspired by Levi’s® denim such as how to dress up a classic white-tee, how to look Bohemian chic in your Levi’s®, and a new age look inspired by The Great Gatsby movie.
